The most awaited athletic saga has begun under the name of the Commonwealth Games. This time Birmingham is its ground. Birmingham welcomes all the members of the Commonwealth Games Nation. The grand opening ceremony took place on 28 July 2022 in Alexander Stadium, Birmingham. Commonwealth has more medals for women than for men in the store. The competition will be among 5000 athletes from 72 different nations. They will be representing themselves in 19 sports and compete in 280 medal events. British music icons Duran Duran, the 1980s pop band formed in Birmingham are ready to make up to the opening ceremony. Tony Iommi, Indigo Marshall, and Gambini will also grace the ceremony. This time Cricket is being featured in the Commonwealth after 1998 where the women will take part for the first time in Birmingham. It will be represented in the T20 format. Australian high jumper Eleanor Patterson and the javelin thrower Kelsey – Lee Barber is arriving as the newly popularised world champions. PV Sindhu and Manpreet Singh the flag bearer of the Indian contingent were welcomed in the opening ceremony.With all its grandeur, The Commonwealth Games has set its buzz globally with a continuation of hit and miss in the running to grab the medals.
